What does this dividend calculator estimate?
This calculator estimates dividend yield from the share price and annual dividend per share that you provide. It also estimates gross annual income by multiplying that per-share amount by your share count. The result is arithmetic based on your entries; it is not a quote, payment confirmation, or forecast.
The formulas are: estimated yield = (annual dividend per share ÷ share price) × 100, and estimated annual income = annual dividend per share × number of shares. For example, if the entered share price is 50 currency units, the annual dividend per share is 2 units, and the holding is 100 shares, the modeled yield is 4% and modeled gross annual income is 200 units. This example is hypothetical and does not describe a particular company or current security.
Investor.gov defines a dividend as a portion of a company's profit paid to shareholders and notes that public companies that pay dividends usually use a fixed schedule, while special or extra dividends can be unscheduled. Enter the share price and annual dividend using the same currency. For the dividend input, use a per-share annual amount. If you only have a per-payment amount, first convert it to an annual amount using the payment schedule you want to model. The calculator does not determine the schedule or verify an issuer's figures. For positions with fractional shares, enter the fractional share count if that matches your records.
Yield is sensitive to the price entered: with the annual dividend held fixed, a different price produces a different calculated percentage. This is a snapshot of two inputs, not a total-return calculation. It does not include any change in share price, reinvestment, or income from other holdings.
The income result is gross and assumes the entered per-share amount applies to every entered share for a full year. It does not account for payment dates, eligibility dates, withholding, taxes, fees, currency conversion, or changes to an announced or expected amount. Review issuer and brokerage information independently and use the values that match your own situation. Do not treat a displayed yield as a guaranteed return.
Frequently asked questions
How is dividend yield estimated?
The calculator divides the annual dividend per share you enter by the share price you enter, then multiplies by 100.
How is annual income estimated?
It multiplies the annual dividend per share by the number of shares entered. The result is a gross arithmetic estimate before taxes, fees, or other adjustments.
Does this predict future dividends?
No. It uses only your inputs and does not confirm a declared payment or predict whether an amount will continue.
