How do you schedule Treasury maturity proceeds?
Enter one row for each Treasury bill, note, bond, Treasury Inflation-Protected Security (TIPS), or floating rate note you want to track. Copy its maturity date and expected proceeds from your current account record, then label your intended next step as cash, reinvest, or decide later. The page sorts dated entries and groups the entered proceeds by calendar month, which can help you see when several maturities coincide.
The schedule is only as accurate as the details you enter. TreasuryDirect explains that the maturity date and payment destination depend on the security and account. A broker may display its own processing information. Check the actual security record and payment destination before relying on a date or amount. TreasuryDirect’s redemption page describes payment of maturing marketable securities, while its reinvestment guidance describes conditions for TreasuryDirect reinvestment. Does the schedule determine future Treasury auction dates?
No. It does not fetch an auction calendar or create a reinvestment date from a maturity date. TreasuryDirect says eligible securities may be scheduled for reinvestment under its program rules, with specific timing and security-type conditions. For example, it describes different reinvestment terms for bills, notes, bonds, and floating rate notes, and says TIPS are not eligible for that reinvestment feature on the page linked above. Confirm current eligibility and timing directly with TreasuryDirect or your broker. A “reinvest” label in this schedule is your plan, not a completed TreasuryDirect instruction.
What should you enter for expected proceeds?
Use the amount currently shown for that holding by the institution where it is registered. Do not assume every security pays the same way: bills are issued at a discount and pay face value at maturity, while interest-bearing securities have their own principal and interest terms. Any coupon payment that you want to track separately can be added as another dated row and described in your own records; the schedule will simply total the amount entered. It does not validate a value against a CUSIP, calculate accrued interest, or account for taxes and fees.
How should you use the cash and reinvestment subtotals?
The subtotals group the amounts you marked with each plan label by calendar month. They do not determine whether a reinvestment is available or appropriate, and they do not compare yields. TreasuryDirect notes that reinvestment availability and the next security’s term can depend on the type and issuance schedule. Review your account instructions, security terms, and the relevant TreasuryDirect guidance before acting. This educational worksheet is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tool look up my Treasury holdings?
No. It does not connect to TreasuryDirect, a bank, or a broker. You enter each event manually, and the rows are not uploaded.
Will it calculate a reinvestment date or rate?
No. Dates, proceeds, and plan labels are supplied by you. No auction dates, future yields, or reinvestment outcomes are inferred.
Can I include a coupon payment?
Yes. Add another row with the payment date and amount shown in your account, and identify it in your own external records; the worksheet only organizes entered dates and amounts.
Are the proceeds a guaranteed payment estimate?
No. The tool displays your entry. Verify maturity terms, payment instructions, and amounts with the institution holding the security.
